Weatherization Assistance

The Weatherization Assistance Program can help make your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. The program is funded by the US Department of Energy through grants to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development and then distributed to weatherization agencies throughout the state.

The Weatherization Assistance Program provides assistance to qualifying homeowners or renters, with the inspection and installation of energy saving measures, such as:

  • Sealing air-leaks with insulation, caulking, and weather-stripping
  • Minor roof repair
  • Repairing leaky duct systems
  • Attic and/or wall insulation
  • Inspection of heating/cooling equipment (possible replacement if warranted)
  • Installing energy efficient lighting

For a complete list of weatherization measures available, contact the agency serving your county or city. Below is the weatherization provider in our area, along with their contact information:

If you are interested in weatherization assistance, contact your local agency and ask for an application to be sent to you or complete & mail the application below. If you qualify, the weatherization agency will schedule an energy audit of your home to help identify the best energy-saving measures. Once approved, the work will be provided at no cost to you.

Community Electric Co-op is always looking for ways to promote energy efficiency to help our members save energy and money. The Weatherization Assistance Program is a great option for qualifying members who want to obtain better energy efficiency but may not be able to afford it on their own.
